How to deal with the phenomenon of motor leakage?

Safety first: shut off power immediately. Then: 1) Check for damaged cable insulation, 2) Inspect motor terminal box for moisture or contamination, 3) Test winding insulation resistance with megohmmeter, 4) Dry out motor if wet, 5) Replace motor if insulation failure is confirmed.
