Precision Chemical Delivery for Surface Finishing · Reliable Power for Coating and Electroplating Processes

The surface finishing industry—including electroplating, anodizing, electroless plating, phosphating, passivation, and coating—requires stable flow, precise chemical control, and excellent corrosion resistance.

For hard chromium plating, Meibao MB-F centrifugal pumps, MB-MD magnetic drive pumps, MV-S sump pumps, and MB-D metering pumps support bath circulation, filtration, and chemical replenishment. With PFA/PTFE linings or titanium/duplex stainless steel components, they provide reliable performance in highly corrosive chemicals and help reduce bath contamination and coating defects.

In aluminum anodizing, stable circulation and accurate dosing are essential for consistent oxide films and dyeing quality. At a South China aluminum extrusion facility, MB-MD pumps across 12 anodizing lines improved film uniformity from ±14% to ±5.5%, increased first-pass dyeing yield from 82% to 96%, and reduced dye consumption by 18%, saving over USD 110,000 annually. MB-D metering pumps provide ±0.5% dosing accuracy to maintain stable bath concentrations.
For phosphating, passivation, silane treatment, and paint shop circulation, liquids may contain abrasive particles, sludge, or high-viscosity solids. Meibao MV-S and MB-F pumps feature wear-resistant and anti-clogging designs for demanding conditions. In three automotive paint lines in East China, MB-F open-impeller pumps operated for 18 months with zero clogging incidents.

Quick Reference

Semiconductor wet processes tolerate zero compromise

HF acid attacks metals, metal ions kill wafer yield, CMP slurry destroys seals, and ultra-pure water demands zero particle shedding. Conventional pumps fail on all four fronts.

Bath Impurity Contamination & Coating Defects
Metal impurities such as Fe, Cu, Zn, and Pb exceeding 10 ppm can cause pitting, brittleness, and poor adhesion, with contamination-related defect rates reaching 8%–15%. Conventional 316L stainless steel pumps may leach Fe ions at 0.5–2.0 mg/(L·day) in acidic plating solutions, adding up to 150–600 mg of Fe per month to a 10,000 L bath and increasing purification frequency and operating costs.
Abrasion & Clogging from Solids-Laden Liquids
Phosphating sludge, anodizing mud, and paint booth solids (2%–8% concentration, 5–500 μm particles) can cause severe erosion and clogging. Conventional pump impellers in 4% solids phosphating solutions typically last only 4,000–6,000 hours, requiring 2–3 replacements per year. Unexpected clogging and maintenance can also lead to significant production downtime and losses.
Inaccurate Dosing & Process Instability
In electroplating and anodizing, dosing deviations above ±3% can affect coating quality. Conventional metering pumps may experience accuracy drift under changing backpressure, while check valve wear can reduce repeatability to ±5%–±8%, increasing additive waste and wastewater COD loads. In hard chromium plating, catalyst dosing deviations above ±5% can reduce coating hardness and increase scrap rates to 15%–30%.

Fluoroplastic Lining, Hydraulic Optimization, and Zero-Leakage Magnetic Drive

Meibao applies three core solutions against corrosion, abrasion, and emissions. MB-F Series uses 6.0 mm FEP/PFA fluoroplastic lining with Hastelloy C-276 shaft sleeves—only 0.02 mm/year corrosion at 80,000 ppm Cl⁻ and 65°C. MV-S Series optimizes impeller hydraulics with duplex stainless steel CD4MCu, extending MTBF to 18,500 hours in gypsum slurry. MB-MD Series adopts a fully sealed magnetic drive, achieving 0.000% leakage and ≥99.7% emission reduction for H₂S and VOC service.

Ultra-Pure Fluoropolymer Flow Path · Zero Metal Leaching
MB-F and MB-MD Series wetted parts use high-purity PFA or PTFE (6.0–8.0 mm thick), with a 24-hour UPW rinse and ICP-MS verification. Metal ion leaching is controlled below 0.05 ppb for 12 target elements, including Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb, and Ni. Kalrez® 6375 seals and magnetic or dual mechanical sealing provide reliable, contamination-free operation at up to 80°C and pH 0.5, helping prevent pitting, embrittlement, and coating defects.
Open Impeller + Wear-Resistant Anti-Abrasion Design

MV-S vertical sump pumps and MB-F Series pumps are designed for solids-laden liquids, featuring open or semi-open impellers, 8–15 mm vane clearance, and solids passage up to 15 mm. CD4MCu duplex stainless steel or high-chromium cast iron options provide excellent wear resistance. After 15,000 hours of continuous testing in 6% solids phosphating solution, impeller wear remained below 1.2 mm, delivering an MTBF of up to 18,000 hours.

High-Precision Closed-Loop Metering · ±0.3% Accuracy

MB-D metering pumps combine VFD control, closed-loop stroke feedback, and pulsation damping to maintain dosing accuracy within ±0.3%, even under backpressure fluctuations. PTFE composite dual diaphragms and ceramic check valves provide reliable long-term operation. Bath concentration fluctuations were reduced from ±5% to ±1.2%, cutting additive consumption by 18%–25% and reducing plating thickness COV from over 8% to below 3%, with product yield reaching ≥97%.

AAL Electroplating Pickling Case Study-123

A large automotive parts manufacturer operated 48 hard chrome plating tanks. Mechanical seal wear caused CrC/g contamination in the floor drainage. Three workers required medical attention from exposure. Annual mechanical seal replacement cost exceeded %?20,000.

How an Indian electroplating facility reduced downtime and acid-related corrosion by switching to PPH vertical pumps for mixed-acid pickling circulation.
